I have been in Austin since 1971, so there are a lot of things I take for granted as I think about community lifestyle -- hills, lakes, mild climate, "Live Music Capital of the World," "Silicon Hills" -- the strongest high-tech center outside of Silicon Valley, one of the first three Metros to come out of the recession and housing/mortgage downturn, one of the few metros still reporting positive job growth, one of the few U.S. metros reporting growth in home sales, etc., etc., etc.
This is a great place to live, in so many ways! I was thrilled to find this report this evening:
Yahoo! Green, 12/12/09
Cities with best and worst tap water
Austin is in the Top 10 in yet another ranking!!! More: http://green.yahoo.com/blog/the_conscious_consumer/110/cities-with-best-and-worst-tap-water.html
Texas and the Austin area have appeared prominently in many lists of desireable areas over the past several years. Water quality is a category that doesn't come up every day, but for those that live here, this isn't a surprise.
Austin is a great place to live, in so many ways! It is wonderful to see this reinforcement in a quality-of-life category that matters so much to foks considering a new destination.
Come on down!
