Bill Morris: Pflugerville grows up!

Pflugerville grows up!

Pflugerville reaches 50,000 population!  (Pflugerville's population estimate exceeds 50,000 residents)

It wasn't that long ago that Pflugerville was truly a small town sandwiched between Austin and Round Rock. That's triple the headcount from the 2000 census!  Those who live and drive in Pflugerville certainly recognize the change, and local property tax rates are a clear indication of the construction and debt service requirements in Pflugerville ISD, but don't let that keep this community off your home-shopping list.  It has become a city along the way and has a lot to offer --- great location, plenty of city amenities, well-regarded schools, great golf, a new recreational lake, easy access to major commuting arteries, and more.

As this article points out, the new population certification will allow the City to stretch its Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction to 3.5 miles, and provide opportunities for more sources of federal funding.  Pflugerville can't grow north, south, or west, but there is a lot of land still east of the city, and by all appearances the Greater Austin area will continue to attract employers and job growth, so development in Pflugerville will undoubtedly continue for years to come.

Bill, while I am from NY I am also very familiar with Pflugerville. My older brother lived there prior to moving to Round Rock. Glad to hear that the area is prospering.
